Placebo premieres cover of Tears for Fears' "Shout"

Placebo has premiered a cover of the Tears for Fears single "Shout."

For their version, the "Pure Morning" rockers turn the '80s #1 hit into what a press release describes as a "brooding industrial march." You can listen for yourself now via digital outlets.

Placebo previously released a covers album in 2003, which featurea rendition of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill." As the original 1985 single became a resurgent hit this year following its placement in Stranger Things, Placebo's version also saw an increase in sales and streams.

The "Shout" cover follows Placebo's new album Never Let Me Go, which was released in March. The group had planned to launch a North American headlining tour this week in support of the record -- which marks their first full-length effort in nine years -- but it was postponed to 2023 due to "unprecedented visa and logistical issues."

Meanwhile, in other cover news, Tegan and Sara have released a rendition of The Smashing Pumpkins' "Today," recorded exclusively for Amazon Music. The cover was inspired by the upcoming Amazon Freevee series High School, which is based on Tegan and Sara's 2019 memoir of the same name.
