New Order is bringing some veteran presence to South by Southwest.

The "Blue Monday" group will be performing at this year's edition of the annual Austin festival, which mostly focuses on new and up-and-coming bands.

In other synth-pop news, Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan has released a cover of the song "Chains," originally by the band The Raveonettes. The recording is available now via digital outlets and will also be included on an upcoming tribute to the 2002 Raveonettes' release Whip It On.

"We're honored to have a legend like Dave Gahan interpret one of our songs," The Raveonettes say. "It means the world to us. We've toured with Depeche Mode a bunch of times and we love and adore them."
