The MTV VMA’s are set to happen this Sunday August 30th with a pre-show starting at 6pm and the awards kicking off at 8pm. The show is being held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and will of course be slightly different in 2020, no crowds and artists sitting 6 feet apart.

As far as performances go, it doesn’t seem like they focused on securing many alternative artists - which is a HUGE bummer. However, we will get Machine Gun Kelly, Travis Barker, and Blackbear in the pre-show!

Other performers during the show include, Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande, BTS, The Weeknd, Maluma and Roddy Ricch. Also performing is Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, J Balvin and CNCO. Hosting the show is Hustlers star Keke Palmer. But seriously...NO alt artists in the main event??!

There will also be a special moment during the show this year that will celebrate “Everyday Heroes: Frontline Medical Workers” in honor of COVID-19 first responders.

There are 2 new categories this year for ‘Best Music Video from Home’ and ‘Best Quarantine Performance’ which scored nominations from favorites like Twenty One Pilots and Blink-182. We underlined the awards we will be watching for! (Best Alternative most importantly of course)
