Watch Billy Corgan sing 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' during hockey game

Sports collided when Billy Corgan sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the NHL's Winter Classic hockey game on New Year's Eve.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman performed the famed baseball song during the third period between the Chicago Blackhawks and the visiting St. Louis Blues. As for why Corgan would be singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during a game that does not have a ball, the Winter Classic was played on an ice rink built on Chicago's Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs baseball team.

Corgan, who hails from Chicago, also performed alongside the Pumpkins during the pregame Winter Classic festivities.

As inspiring as Corgan's performances were, the Blackhawks ultimately fell to the Blues 6-2.
