Chicago party bus shooting leaves 8 wounded in Lincoln Park neighborhood

CHICAGO — At least eight people are in the hospital after gunfire erupted late Wednesday in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, authorities said.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the drive-by shooting occurred shortly before midnight near LaSalle Drive and Clark Street. Chicago police said a shooter inside a dark Jeep Grand Cherokee opened fire at a group of people who had been riding on a party bus, injuring two women and six men ranging in age from 23 to 52.

One victim, a 27-year-old man who was shot in the chest, is hospitalized in critical condition, the Sun-Times reported. Two others, a 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, are in serious condition, authorities said. The remaining five victims are in fair or good condition, according to the newspaper.

Police do not know whether the wounded victims were on the bus or outside at the time of the shooting, WGN reported.

No further details, including information about possible suspects, were immediately available.
