New Order selling "Blue Monday" shirt for mental health organization

The third Monday of January is often deemed "Blue Monday" and is described as the "most depressing day of the year," citing the dreary weather and the post-holiday funk that the first month of the calendar brings. While the science behind "Blue Monday" has long been questioned, "Blue Monday" band New Order is using the occasion to raise money for charity.

The group has announced a new "Blue Monday"-themed T-shirt in support of the mental health and suicide prevention organization CALM, which is an acronym for Campaign Against Living Miserably.

The shirt was created by acclaimed graphic designer Peter Saville, who co-created the original "Blue Monday" single record sleeve.

"It's a bit tongue and cheek launching a commemorative Blue Monday tee on Monday 16th January," Saville says. "But ultimately we wanted to use this as a vehicle to raise awareness and funds for CALM's important work."

Saville adds, "Whether you're having a Blue Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, we want people to know that CALM is there for you every day if you’re struggling."
