Of Monsters and Men vocalist Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir has announced her debut solo album.

The record is titled How to Start a Garden and will be released on May 5.

"A lot of things had to end for this album to become what it is," Nanna says. "A long term relationship, my prior sense of home and belonging. But it's also an ode to the joy of new beginnings: new relationships, a new home, new friendships, a new sense of self. The album takes place in this in-between state."

How to Start a Garden includes the previously released song "Godzilla." A second track titled "Crybaby" is available now via digital outlets and is accompanied by a video streaming now on YouTube.
