Dave Matthews has dropped off the FireAid and MusiCares Person of the Year benefit concerts.

In a statement posted to Facebook, the "Ants Marching" rocker shares he's dealing with a "critical illness in the family."

At FireAid, which takes place Thursday and raises money for Los Angeles fire relief efforts, Matthews was set to perform a set alongside John Mayer.

The MusiCares Person of the Year gala will be held Friday in LA and honors the Grateful Dead.
