Edgehill

Though Edgehill formed in Nashville, the trio owes far less to country than the decades-long tradition of melodic, guitar-driven rock forged in alternative spaces but straightened out for mainstream audiences. The band's nucleus is lead vocalist/guitarist Chris Kelly of Charlottesville, Virginia and lead guitarist/backing vocalist Jake Zimmerman, raised on Long Island. Both met as students at Vanderbilt University in 2021, where they bonded over regular jam sessions as part of The Music Room, an on-campus collective of aspiring professional musicians. With a rhythm section initially composed of bassist Andrei Olaru and drummer Jonny Wilson, Edgehill started gigging locally, building a buzz around original songs like the 2022 debut single "Shooting Glances" and 2023's "Lookaround." By the end of 2023, Wilson was replaced by Westfield, Indiana-born Aidan Cunningham, who hit it off with Kelly at a local coffee shop. Olaru exited soon after, and Edgehill continued as a trio in the studio. More singles and performances through 2024 (including "Just Got Clean" and "Something ") finally led to greater exposure, when their Severance label began licensing material to Universal's Mercury imprint. A full-length debut, Ode to the Greyhouse, arrived in 2026, featuring standouts including "Doubletake" and "I Can Be Your Dog." ~ Mike Duquette
