05/15/19 — His real name is Jordan Edward Benjamin but to us and the rest of the grandkids, this is grandson.
grandson performed at 97x Next Big Thing in December and it was a day that truly left an impression on the up and coming musician. His set at the 2nd stage was packed his acoustic pop-up performance had people running across the venue to catch it. In our interview he explained that in that moment he truly felt like he had arrived as an artist and performer.
“To see how many people came to a performance that was relatively early in the day, and to see how many people came to the acoustic show...we had a moment when I played ‘Blood/Water’ acoustic and everyone was singing along and I got choked up, I couldn’t finish it. It was as close of a feeling to that place of ‘arrival’ that I’ve felt on stage before so I really am looking forward to coming back.”
That moment and that performance didn’t just leave an impression on Jordan, all of us here at 97x talked about it for days following the show. We were moved and extremely excited by the clear passion and talent within grandson. We knew we HAD to bring him to 97XBBQ.

During our interview Jordan also went into great detail about his prior career as a ghostwriter for other artists and explained the exact moment he realized it wasn’t fulfilling for him. Jordan now writes his own powerful politically charged music that inspires listeners to fight for the causes and issues that are important to them.
