Watch Florence Welch & Emma Stone discuss 'Cruella': "I was this girl!"

Walt Disney Records

Florence Welch sees a lot of a young Cruella de Vil in herself.

For a video promoting the new film Cruella, which tells the origin story of the classic Disney villain, Welch and star Emma Stone speak about the new song "Call Me Cruella" that Florence + the Machine recorded for the movie. In the clip, Welch, shares how much she related to Stone's portrayal of the character.

"I just felt such a kinship towards her," Welch explains. "Weirdly, she looks exactly like me when I was 20. I had that bright red hair, blunt fringe."

"I was, like, 'I know this girl! I was this girl!'" she continues. "I really felt that desire to create, but also I understand that chaos energy, because I have been a chaos person."

Cruella is in theaters now. You can also watch it on Disney+ with Premier Access.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News.
