Arkansas woman arrested after toddler, possibly dropped from vehicle, dies along freeway

SALINE COUNTY, Ark. — Authorities in Arkansas have arrested a Little Rock woman after a toddler died along a freeway in Saline County.

According to KATV, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office said Whitney Turner-Tyson, 30, was charged with capital murder, battery and endangerment Tuesday night.

Her arrest came hours after Arkansas State Police responded about 9 a.m. Tuesday to a report of what appeared to be a small child who “had been dropped from a moving vehicle” on Interstate 30 near mile marker 117. Although a caller believed the child might have been a doll, police arrived to find a toddler, KTHV reported.

“The child, believed to be approximately 2 years old, died after troopers were on the scene and awaiting emergency medical care to arrive,” state troopers said in a news release.

Turner-Tyson remains in the Saline County Jail without bond, according to KATV.
