The National has premiered a new song called "Weird Goodbyes," featuring Bon Iver.

The track, which is available now via digital outlets, follows the "Fake Empire" outfit's 2019 album, I Am Easy to Find. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, guitarist Aaron Dessner confirms that a new record is in the works.

"I wouldn't say it's super heavy ... it's emotional," Dessner explains. "There's a way of writing about disillusionment and disconnect and wanting to escape or reconnect ... It actually feels very direct in a way."

"It reminds me of older songs, even 'Boxer' era," he adds. "We're really excited ... we're very close."

Since releasing I Am Easy to Find, The National's been introduced to a whole new group of fans by guesting on the Taylor Swift song "coney island." The track appears on the pop superstar's 2020 album evermore, which, like predecessor folklore, was co-produced by Dessner.
