Woman charged after shooting at driver who crashed into her backyard, police say

WARRENTON, Va. — A 74-year-old woman was arrested Saturday after she opened fire at an inebriated driver who had crashed into her backyard, police said.

Warrenton police said Nancy Blough called to report “shots fired” after she was awakened around 11:24 p.m. from the sounds of a vehicle crashing into things in her backyard, including hitting her vehicle.

Blough responded by firing several shots at the vehicle, striking it as it tried to leave, investigators said.

Kaitlyn Yontz, was found uninjured in the vehicle nearby. Yontz, 29, was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in public, WJLA reported.

Blough was arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle, police said.
