97x at Bonnaroo 2018: Saturday Sun

97x at Bonnaroo 2018: FRIYAY

Friyay was our first full day on the farm and it was PACKED with epic activities! We started the day with our broadcast from the media center. (Here’s me looking super busy and important.)

We were also lucky enough to score interviews with The Revivalists and Manchester Orchestra!

Manchester Orchestra discussed the softer more mature sound of their latest record (post-babies for two band members!), the single that literally JUST dropped 3 hours before our interview, and how they still have their first Bonnaroo parking pass! Full interview here!

Manchester Orchestra took the ‘Which Stage’ 5:15p after our interview and rocked our faces off. I also found this badass pregnant af friend in the crowd and a dabbing Santa! Full gallery from their set here!

The Revivalists and I chatted about the wild success of ‘Wish I Knew You’ and they clued me into a new single and album coming soon! Hear that interview here!

They then claimed ‘Which Stage’ at 7:15p and it was an absolutely insane set. Like…sax to the face insane. See all the pictures here!

At this point I needed a break to catch some Roo snacks and V I E W S.

PARAMORE THOUGH!! Paramore performed on ‘What Stage’ last night and I re-lived my NBT 2017 dreams!! They were just as awesome as ever and Hayley Williams really opened up to the crowd. She talked about writing After Laughter during one of the darkest parts of her life was probably the best decision she made. She explained that if you’re going to face those issues ‘you might as well do it singing and dancing’. Yes. I cried real tears at that point.

Full gallery from their set!

We took a campsite break to refresh via baby wipes and closed out the night with Muse and Bassnectar which were both unbelievable of course. That was my first full on glow stick throwing/laser beam flashing Bassnectar experience and well…it’s quite an experience.

Back in the broadcast center this morning (Saturday) and have interviews lined up with LANY, Mikky Echo, Matt Schultz from Cage The Elephant, and Sir Sly!!

First though, breakfast tacos.

97x at Bonnaroo 2018: We’ve arrived!!

One giant bag of Doritos, 2 pit stops, and 10 hours in the car later, we arrived in Manchester Tennessee for Bonnaroo 2018!!

First stop of course was to get suited up with our wrist bands, they become your literal LIFE LINE. Then of course the camping setup struggle happened. I was quite proud of the luxurious tent I assembled.

WE OUT HERE.

Had to get tatted up of course.

After that it was straight over to the broadcast center for an interview. This is Jade Bird, she’s an incredible up an coming artist with an insane story. Traveled most of her life and started writing music and playing playing gigs in South Wales at 14! Her music has unique sound and powerful lyrics. What I love is that it crosses almost all genres too. Of course died for her floral onesie.  Check out our full interview!

We then had to go explore the farm! Stopped at the silent disco which was an INCREDIBLE experience. Imagine a bunch of people jamming and twerking in complete silence with head phones on. Yeah. Walked by some weird BBQ place that had a giant flaming pig. Oh, and vegan corn dogs happened. Hipster AF.

*FESTIVAL LEWKS*

What’s amazing about Bonnaroo is the random stuff you are constantly running into. Like a free crawfish boil? WHAT?

Before calling it a night we headed back to Centeroo (that’s what they call the main area with all the stages) to see Frenship and Flor perform. I’m SO glad we did because that’s where the absolute highlight of my night happened. We are just standing in the crowd and I hear “Sam from 97x??” I turned my head and yelled “SHUT UP!” because I had literally been

s h o o k.

You don’t expect to run into 97X Tampa Bay family members all the way up here! And at a HUGE festival?! This is Raoul and Juan and they were awesome!!

Well, I’m currently writing this from the broadcast center where we are LIVE 10a-3p today (Friday) and tomorrow! Later this afternoon I’ll be interviewing Manchester Orchestra and The Revivalists so be on the lookout for those! We’ll also talk to Sir Sly, LANY, and Mikky Echo this weekend! Everything will be posted here. Thanks for following our adventure on the farm!

New Viral Audio Illusion: Brainstorm or Green Needle?

Oh you needed way to waste a massive amount of time at work on a Monday? GOT YOU.

Last week the world went into an utter tailspin over an audio clip that could be heard as either Yanny or Laurel (totally laurel by the way). Now we’ve got a little toy that lights up and says either “brainstorm” or “green needle”???

Apparently the official answer is that it says “brainstorm” but the guy behind the video says you hear which ever one you have in your head before it plays.

What are your thoughts?

Think the Laurel or Yanny thing is weird? You can hear the words ‘Brainstorm’ or ‘Green Needle’ based on which word you think about. Try it. pic.twitter.com/7TrS9XNhNR — George Aylett (@GeorgeAylett) May 17, 2018

Two Feet is an artist you need to know

WATCH: Awkward moment blink-182 plays at baseball game with Tom DeLonge there

‘Awkward’ was probably the best caption possible for this post on Facebook by Tom DeLonge Sunday. While attending a baseball game between the Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals, blink-182’s ‘All The Small Things’ started playing for the crowd along with a message from the jumbotron – ‘everyone sing along!’.

Tom DeLonge of course had a very public split from the band which only adds to the discomfort of this moment.

His face says it all.

Robert Delong drops crazy new video for ‘Favorite Color Is Blue’

Robert Delong is one of the artists on your EPIC 97XBBQ lineup this year and he just dropped this crazy music video for his latest single ‘Favorite Color Is Blue’. Ironically, the song features an artist who killed it at BBQ last year, K.Flay!

The video is super artsy and futuristic looking. Guarantee you won’t be able to look away!

Want to experience Robert Delong live at 97X Barbecue Music and Arts Festival? Grab your tickets now! The festival is May 26th in Vinoy Park!

Mike Shinoda performs ‘In The End’ in first solo show since Chester Bennington’s passing

At KROQ’s Weenie Roast over the weekend Mike Shinoda performed solo for the first time since the passing of Chester Bennington. His set included a few tracks from his upcoming first solo album, Post Traumatic, but the most moving moment was when he took to the piano to perform Linkin Park’s ‘In The End’.

Rather than sing Chester’s part, he let the crowd do that. It was perfect. ❤

Mike Shinoda’s first solo album, Post Traumatic, is due out June 15th. In support of that he has also announced a few solo tour dates in Asia that are listed below. Here’s to hoping more dates are to come!

Dates: 08/07 – Hong Kong, China 08/09 – Bangkok, Thailand 08/18 – Osaka, Japan 08/19 – Tokyo, Japan

Track listin for Post Traumatic 1. “Place To Start” 2. “Over Again” 3. “Watching As I Fall” 4. “Nothing Makes Sense Anymore” 5. “About You (feat. SAM TALKS NEW SINGLE ‘QUARTER PAST MIDNIGHT’ WITH DAN FROM BASTILLE

Today I got to talk with Dan from Bastille (yes, I was freaking out) about their new single ‘Quarter Past Midnight’. It’s the lead single from the band’s forthcoming yet-to-be titled third album which we do not have a release date for yet, we simply know it’s in ‘the future’ – lol (Dan’s words). This will be the first album for the band since 2016’s No. 1 album  Wild World and was written in a new studio they just built in their hometown in London. As he described in the interview, the song is meant to capture that raucous, messy portion of the night where you stay out later than you should and make sometimes amazing and sometimes regrettable decisions! As he says, the feeling you have when you go out and just want to ‘forget everything’.

Check out the interview below!

Panic! At The Disco take over The Ellen Show studio in epic performance

If there is one thing you can always be sure of with Panic! At The Disco it’s that you’re getting way more than a live performance, it’s a full-on SHOW!

On Tuesday the band performed on The Ellen Show and it was purely unforgettable. Complete with broken bottles, stunt performers, and a few shots of whiskey Brendon Urie basically took over the entire studio.

Watch it now!

Dave Grohl has another fall at Florida Foo Fighters show

Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters is certainly no stranger to falling as we can all remember when he famously shattered his leg during a show in Sweden in 2015. Is that going to change anytime soon? Nope! Not when you rock as hard as he does!

During their set at Welcome To Rockville in Jacksonville last week, Grohl can be seen strumming and walking along the stage when suddenly he loses his balance over a speaker. Once back to the mic he addressed the crowd, “I almost just broke my f***ing leg over there…the way I look at it, if you come that close to breaking your f***ing leg, that means it’s a good show!”

Dave is so freaking awesome.

Watch the video posted to a Dave Grohl fan account below!

WATCH: Metallica Cover A-Ha’s ‘Take On Me’

During a show in Oslo, Norway at Telenor Arena on May 2nd rob and Kirk of Metallica did a surprise cover of A-Ha’s ‘Take On Me’.

The two have been known to play all sorts of different covers through this tour but as reported by Guitar World, this one was even more special as it was to pay tribute to the well-known eighties synth-pop Norwegian act.

It’s slightly odd but also awesome!! Check it out!
