The Wells Police Department says in a Facebook post that 19-year-old Andrew Huber Young was arrested on Sunday for allegedly shooting three people Saturday, evening including his 2-year-old niece, Octavia Huber Young, who died from her injuries.

Andrew allegedly drove to the police department and told them that he accidentally shot his family, according to court records obtained by WGME. He also told officers that the gun was in his car. Andrew reportedly told police that the shooting happened after an argument over a shirt that his brother was wearing. The fight escalated when the father asked him to leave, which he did. The argument continued over text message just before he returned to the home with a gun he allegedly stole from his father, WGME says. His brother and father were both injured. The father was holding his niece, Octavia, in his arms at the time of the shooting. She was rushed to the hospital but she did not survive.

Police say Andrew is being held without bail and on a recommended charge of murder. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate and no further information has been released. However, they do expect additional charges for Andrew.
