Arkansas man steals police car moments after release from jail, officials say

PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. — An Arkansas man stole a police vehicle Thursday morning shortly after he was released from jail, investigators said.

Little Rock police said Cordell Coleman, 33, was being released from the Pulaski County jail on a public intoxication charge around 2:40 a.m. as an officer was booking another person. When the officer left the jail, his 2018 Ford Explorer was gone, KATV reported.

Surveillance video outside of the jail showed Coleman get into the vehicle and drive off. Police found it parked at an apartment complex. There was no damage done to it.

Coleman was arrested and charged with felony theft of property, the Kansas City Star reported.
