News broke late last year that Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins was arrested and charged with multiple sex crimes in the band's home country of Wales. Rolling Stone reported in December:

Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has been charged by a Welsh court with conspiracy to rape a one-year-old girl and five other sex offenses, the BBC reports. Watkins, 35, hasn't admitted to the charges, which allegedly took place between May and December of this year.

The singer is also accused of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children. A 20-year-old woman faces the same charges as Watkins, while a 24-year-old woman faces five of the same charges but not conspiracy to rape. Watkins was remanded to custody following a court appearance today in Cardiff.

BBC has this update about the case and a statement from Watkins' attorneys:

Ian Watkins, 35, of Pontypridd, will appear at Cardiff Crown Court in May.

He is accused of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child under 13 and four offences of possessing or distributing indecent images of children between May and December 2012.

Mr Watkins' solicitor says he "furiously denies" the charges.

A 24-year-old woman has been charged with the same offences as Mr Watkins, while a 20-year-old woman is charged with five of the same offences but not conspiracy to rape.

One of the two women appeared in person at court today, while the other, who is in custody, appeared with Mr Watkins via video link.

Judge Eleri Rees, the recorder of Cardiff, set the eventual trial date for the week beginning 15 July.

She was told that up to three weeks would be needed.

The case was adjourned until a new hearing at the same venue some time at the end of May.

Mr Watkins remains remanded in custody.

A statement issued on his behalf by his solicitor, said: "Mr Watkins furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made.

"He intends to fight to the bitter end to clear his name. He wishes to thank the fans, family and friends for the constant love and support they have given and continue to give throughout this testing time."
