This past weekend Nine Inch Nails played their first show in North America since 2009. Their return couldn't happen on a much bigger stage than the annual Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.
During Nine Inch Nails' hiatus Trent Reznor earned numerous nominations for his work scoring films - mostly for director David Fincher - and snagged an Oscar statue for The Social Network. He started a new musical project - How To Destroy Angels - and a family with his wife Mariqueen Maandig.
Reznor's creative juices eventually led him back to Nine Inch Nails. Hesitation Marks comes out September 3, and the "Tension 2013" fall tour of U.S. arenas is imminent. Trent says the stage show is inspired by The Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense, generally regarded as one of the greatest concert films ever.
While we wait, here's full professional video of Nine Inch Nails' Lollapalooza set. 20 songs, 90 minutes. (Some NSFW language)
