Every week I painstakingly and anal-retentively comb your "suggest a song" submissions through the 97x app and 97xonline.com.
How can you suggest a song?
On the 97X App hit the "Find A Song" tab. If your search comes up empty, "Suggest A Song" is the next option.
On 97xonline.com, you can find "Suggest A Song" just under the "Find A Song" window, to the immediate right of the voting playlist.
When suggesting a specific song, please include the artist.
Here's the latest batch of additions to the 97X library! These represent some of the most popular submissions through "Suggest A Song."
Nico Vega is not an artist but an L.A. band. named for the guitarist's mother. Also, singer Aja Folkman is married to Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds. If "Beast" is of any indication, they could become the next alt/rock power couple.
AWOLNATION returns with "THISKIDSNOTALRIGHT" from the soundtrack of the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us. I'll be honest, this is probably my favorite AWOL song since "Sail". This song just came out last week, and doesn't have any suggestions through our app - we added this because we like it!
Older favorites comprise the rest of our "Suggest A Song" submissions this week:
Bloodhound Gang went against type and found success with a novelty song that borrowed more from Depeche Mode than the popular alt/rock sounds of its time. "The Bad Touch" was everywhere in 1999.
My Darkest Days got help from modern guitar god Zakk Wylde and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger for "Porn Star Dancing". My Darkest Days singer Matt Walst also fronts Three Days Grace these days following that band's leader Adam Gontier resigning earlier this year. Matt's brother Brad plays bass in 3DG.
Faith No More's 1992 album Angel Dust is the first CD I ever bought. It marked a shift away from the band's guitar-heavy sound on the previous album The Real Thing and the band's biggest hit, "Epic". This is "Midlife Crisis".
Korn put out a song on their first album with lyrics comprised entirely of nursery rhymes. "Shoots And Ladders" was the follow-up single to "Blind" from the band's 1994 debut.
Somehow we didn't have any Reel Big Fish in our library. That oversight has been corrected as they've been a very popular suggestion, and "Beer" has a healthy lead over other suggested songs by the California ska/punk vets.
Florida's own Shinedown racked up a ton of suggestions for "Diamond Eyes" from their 2008 album The Sound Of Madness. It was the sixth (!) single from that LP.
Embroiled in a corruption scandal that threatens his inner circle and decade-long rule, Turkey's prime minister is now looking to silence his political foes by banning social media sites like Facebook and YouTube.
