Blink-182 has entered the music industry equivalent of free agency: a long-running band with a successful brand and millions of albums sold to their credit and zero obligations to share the wealth with a record label. The Mark, Tom and Travis show has gone DIY.

The group's first indie offering will be the digital-only dogs eating dogs EP on December 18. Pricing is not available for the release itself, but there are a variety of physical configurations starting at $20. MTV reports:

dogs eating dogs is available for pre-order... through Blink's official site, and will be released both as a digital-only EP and in three festive (and decidedly Blink) bundles: A deluxe "Santa's Lap Package," which costs $99.99 and comes with a limited-edition print by artist Brandon Heart, a special Blink holiday T-shirt, wrapping paper and a card, a $54.99 "Nice Package," which features a holiday-edition fleece (and both the wrapping paper and card) and a $19.99 "Naughty Package," which comes with the T-shirt and card.

All fans who pre-order the "Santa's Lap Package" by noon PST on Monday, November 26 will have their print signed by the band. Blink will also randomly insert surprise gifts into each package.

Last week, in an email to MTV News, Blink bassist Mark Hoppus spoke about creating dogs eating dogs on the fly and their newfound freedom, and hinted that there are even more projects from the band on the horizon.

"This kind of agility is exactly what we were looking for, post-label. We have ideas for songs, we get into a studio and put the ideas together, grind hard, chase that paper, and weeks later we release the songs on our own," he wrote. "I spent last week in the studio with Travis and Tom. It was great, ideas falling everywhere. Lots of long hours spent on five new songs. ... The band is in a great place creatively. Having everyone in the same room at the same time makes all the difference for us."

Mark Hoppus told NME earlier this month that the band plans to hit the studio in February to record the follow-up to their 2011 reunion album Neighborhoods.
