Billboard reports:

After a two-year hiatus, it's finally safe to say that Las Vegas rockers The Killers are back. The band debuted a new song, "Runaways," on Tuesday (June 10), and announced that their first studio album in four years, "Battle Born," will be released Sept. 18 on Island Records.

"Runaways" gives every indication that "Battle Born" will be a return to form for The Killers, as lead singer Brandon Flowers croons, "You gotta know that this is real. / Baby, why you want to fight it? / It's the one thing you can choose," over their signature arena rock-meets-electronic pop sound. Listen below.

The music will be a comfort for old Killers fans, as it is more remniscent of 2006's "Sam's Town" than their last album, 2008's "Day & Age." The track is catchy, grandoise and emotional, bringing to mind some of the group's hits, like "When You Were Young" and "Mr. Brightside."

Other than "Runaways," "Battle Born" is expected to include tracks such as "Flesh and Bone," "Carry Me Home" and "Here With Me." At four years, this is the longest gap between releases that Killers fans have yet had to endure -- it took the band a year and a half to record the album in their hometown.

The Killers will be touring in support of "Battle Born" in the coming months, but concrete dates have not yet been announced.
