Green Day to drop 3 LPs later this year

By Joel

Green Day said their next album wouldn't be a sprawling concept piece like American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown. We may have presumed their next album would be a simpler affair. I don't think anyone guessed Green Day would have three full-lengths ready to go. Billboard reports:

Green Day has announced the release of three -- yes, three -- new albums, titled "¡Uno!," "¡Dos!" and "¡Tré!," to follow up their 2009 album, "21st Century Breakdown."

The veteran pop-punk trio will issue the first album on Sept. 25, the second on Nov. 13, and the third on Jan. 15, 2013, all through longtime label Reprise Records. According to a press release, Green Day is still finishing up the albums on Oakland, Calif. with producer Rob Cavallo.

"We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives.  This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming," says the band in a statement. "Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy.  Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels.  We just can't help ourselves... We are going epic as fuck!"

The Black Keys will appear on Anthony Bordain: No Reservations' Monday episode. They grab BBQ in Kansas City and talk briefly about music and touring. See a clip here.
