Courtney Love accuses Dave Grohl of hitting on Frances Bean Cobain

By Joel

Courtney Love set her twitter feed to private, which is unfortunate for the rest of us. Luckily, some of those she deems worthy to follow her also betray her to music blogs when she goes off the deep end! @Cbabymichelle rants about rumors of an inappropriate relationship between her daughter Frances Bean Cobain and Dave Grohl. Stereogum has a screencap of the rant here.

In the rant Love also accuses Grohl of coming on to her in the Nirvana days and being obsessed with Kurt Cobain.

Just in case anyone needs this level of background info: Courtney Love married Nirvana singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain. Frances Bean is their daughter. Dave Grohl played drums in Nirvana and knew Frances Bean as an infant. So if Courtney Love wasn't crazy, this situation has serious creepster potential.

For the record, Dave Grohl quickly dismissed the allegations through his publicist.

Frances Bean was a bit more elaborate:

"While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn," Cobain said in a statement. "I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way.  I'm in a monogamous relationship and very happy. Twitter should ban my mother."

Billboard reports Love is sticking to her guns:

However, Love refused to back down, telling the New York Daily News that she was "certainly not going to retract anything," and criticizing Grohl's statement with an attack on the appearance of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" -- as sung by Kermit the Frog -- in "The Muppets" film last year.

"Unfortunately, Dave is on another Kurt rant, by turning him into a Muppet and hitting on his daughter," Love said.
