Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst to star in CBS sitcom?

By Joel

Billboard reports:

The Limp Bizkit frontman has signed on to star in a CBS sitcom that is being referred to as "Douchebag," in a move that is both surprising and terrifyingly real. According to Deadline.com, the show will revolve around a rock star trying to balance his family life with his career commitments.

The show will be written by Matthew Carlson, who worked on the short-lived ABC sitcom "Mr. Sunshine." John Schneider, Durst's manager/producer and Rob Schneider's brother, will serve as a non-writing producer.

While Durst has only guest starred on TV series like "House," the singer has directed a pair of feature films, 2007's "The Education of Charlie Banks" and 2008's "The Longshots." "Gold Cobra," Limp Bizkit's sixth album and first effort in six years, debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 in July.

NYMag's Vulture blog shares some more details about the show's premise, and doesn't spare any snark:

CBS has signed a deal with Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst to star in a new sitcom. In the half-hour project, currently known as Douchebag (still weird!), Durst will star as a "rock legend" trying to juggle his family and his famous-person lifestyle, which will hopefully not include any failed, canceled comeback tours. We're this close to an Insane Clown Posse crime procedural, everyone! (Of course, we would watch the hell out of that.)

If this show actually makes it through a pilot episode to air, I will absolutely watch just out of morbid curiosity. What do you think? Comment and let us know.
