97X Music News for October 13, 2011

By Joel

Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale spoke recently about a variety of topics. He talked about the difficulty of reuniting Bush without guitarist Nigel Pusford, how much he misses his family while on the road, and how he would have dealt differently with critics during the peak of the band's popularity:

I would say instead of trying to appease my critics, just to continue to be there for the people that love me. I think that sometimes with the small things I corrected on this record, my muse is the audience I have seen over the years, my muse is the audience I missed. I think that sometimes when you are young and being attacked, you want to stay in the fight, you want to stay in there and duke it out. In fact, what you should be doing is going to the bar where they love you.

Bush will be at 97X Next Big Thing, December 3 at the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morelloperformed at Occupy Wall Street today under his protest-rock solo persona, The Nightwatchman. He also appeared at Occupy L.A. earlier this week.

Weezer ex-bassist Mikey Welsh, who was found dead last weekend, apparently 'predicted' his death on twitter a few weeks ago. Welsh struggled with mental illness and drug abuse.

Say Anything will release a new albumAnarchy, My Dear early in 2012. Frontman Max Bemis will hit The Orpheum in Ybor City for a solo gig on December 11.
