Weezer's former bassist Mikey Welsh was found dead in a Chicago hotel room over the weekend, cause of death pending toxicology test results. Welch played in the band from 1998 through 2001, touring post-Pinkerton and through the Green Album sessions until suffering a nervous breakdown and quitting music to concentrate on art.

Amy Lee says music originally intended for the Evanescence comeback album but eventually abandoned could surface in other projects. Lee described some of the material as "more stripped down and acoustic" and also mentioned a phase where she was into more electronic sounds. The album Evanescence is the band's first in five years and comes out next Tuesday (10/11).

P.O.D. want to match the success of their 2001 album Satellite. They hired Howard Benson, the producer of that album, to work on their new one due out next spring. We'll see if they can bring another "Alive" or "Youth Of The Nation."
