In an interview with Beats 1 Radio’s Zane Lowe, Matty Healy announced the band’s third studio album, Music For Cars, is going to be released sometime in 2018. Long time fans of The 1975 will know that the band’s first EP was also of the same title, and Healy acknowledged that their next album will reference that and their second EP. He went on to describe that their forthcoming album will be the “end of an era”, whatever that means. “Music for Cars has always been called that, and we were always gonna do a trilogy of records,” he said. “And I’m not saying that after this album it’s the end of the 1975, but it’s definitely the end of an era.” Don’t expect a solo career after this album, because Healy has previously shot down that notion in past interviews. Given how impressive and awe inspiring the band’s upward trajectory has been since they first blessed the world with “Chocolate”, 2018 can’t come soon enough. I would expect Music For Cars is going to be big, very big. Listen to the interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio below:

97X Next Big Thing alums, The Head and the Heart, are still riding high following last year’s release of Signs of Light. The band’s third studio album is perhaps their best yet, providing the alt rock world one of the best songs of the year in “All We Ever Knew”. They are coming off stellar performances at both weekends of Coachella, playing early evening slots on the main stage with all of their frontline and backline gear, something they have yet to do at their hometown music festival up to this point in their career. Like plenty of other bands who play Coachella, they had plenty of time in and around LA, playing smaller gigs and making the media rounds. Last night they appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden. In just a few short weeks, they will be playing at Jannus Live, showing off more of their latest album than you got a chance to hear at Next Big Thing last year.
First we had the Pink Floyd shrimp and now a Radiohead ANT?! Say hello to Sericomyrmex radioheadi. The Ant was discovered by Ana Ješovnik and Ted R. Schultz who work in the Smithsonian Institution’s Ant Lab in Washington, D.C. The two scientists said they “wanted to honor their music…but more importantly, we wanted to acknowledge the conservation efforts of the band members, especially in raising climate-change awareness.” My only question is, did it have to be an ant? Why not bad ass snake or a big scary spider!!! Saturday night the duo performed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at a SOLD OUT show and let’s just say…it got awkward. They closed out the show with this banner spelling Pittsburgh wrong. Is this real life right now? Wow. Just wow. 1 easy way to make Pittsburgh hate the Chainsmokers, forever. pic.twitter.com/WMxFejBc2l — Ashley (@shDell18) April 23, 2017 Well at least we got another chance this week in Clevlande https://t.co/YDUPkwUifc — THE CHAINSMOKERS (@TheChainsmokers) April 24, 2017
This video is MAKING my Monday. In 1984 Red Hot Chili Peppers performed ‘Get Up And Jump’ in their first television appearance with the late Alan Thicke . They could have made a Snapchat filter, named a kitten, or hired a skywriter to blast it across the skies but NAAAAHHH. Portugal. The Man did something way awesome-er to promote their new single. They created and named a custom cannabis blend after ‘Feel It Still.” They explained that they partnered with Hifi Farms in Oregon to combine “top shelf hybrid strains Gorilla Glue #4 and Girl Scout Cookies” to create the perfect pairing for the musical vibes of the song. Of course, dispensaries like Serra Cannabis and Electric Lettuce recreational (where you can get it) AREN’T a thing here in Florida yet but it’s still a pretty sweet idea! Peep the video for ‘Feel it Still’ below! Credit: altpress.com
Fall Out Boy IS UP TO SOMETHIN. The tweet came this morning, asking Chicago to “please silence your cell phones at 11 a.m. CST.” The video is also on Instagram and Facebook with a list of addresses. Lorde used her headlining set at Coachella last night to debut some new music AND WE’RE SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT IT. ‘I told you this was Melodrama’ and ‘Homemade Dynamite’ were both in the set while another song ‘ Sober’ was performed at a small club show Friday. Her next album ‘Melodrama’ will drop this summer and it sounds like it’s gonna be AWESOME. Last night before performing ‘Homemade Dynamite’, she asked the crowd to give the song it’s “biggest f***ing birthday of all time.” Check it out! We’ve got tons more pics from Coachella here if you feel like daydreamin’ a little on a Monday.

Grouplove The infectiously quirky indie rock band hailing from Los Angeles, actually came to fruition on a chance summer spent in a Greece art residency in the late 2000s. You probably first head of them because of the hype from their first album, Never Trust A Happy Song, that included the smash hit tracks “Colours” and “Tongue Tied”. Since that debut album that put them on the map, they have recorded two more full length albums, including 2016’s Big Mess, which you should be expecting to hear plenty of at this year’s BBQ. Being new parents and growing into adulthood while in a band was the basis for much of the album. Lead singers Hannah Hooper and Christian Zuconi recently had their first child, Willa, and that has drastically changed their lives since forming Grouplove nearly 10 years ago. Now, let’s take a look back at some of their past 97X moments and get hyped for their first festival headlining gig in Tampa Bay! Fresh off their world tour, Yellowcard has released their final music video ‘A Place We Set Afire’. The video is an emotional (and yes, I ugly cried) thank you and final goodbye to the fans before they split. In their words, “This song was inspired by and written for you.” #RIPYellowcard 1997-2017. WE’LL MISS YOU.
