Police were called to make an unusual withdrawal in Corpus Christi, Texas, Wednesday after a contractor working at a Bank of America found himself trapped in an ATM, according to multiple reports.

Officer Gena Pena told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times that the contractor, who was not identified, was working on the ATM around 2 p.m., on the 400 block of North Mesquite Street, when he accidentally locked himself inside.

He had left his cellphone in his truck, according to The Associated Press, and passed notes through to customers in the ATM’s receipt slot in hopes of being freed.

“Please help,” he wrote in one note, according to the AP. “I’m stuck in here.”

A customer called police, who were able to kick down the door to rescue the man, the Caller-Times reported.

Senior officer Richard Olden called the incident “a once-in-a-lifetime situation that you will probably never see or hear again” in an interview with KRIS.

"We come out here, and sure enough we can hear a little voice coming from the machine. So we are thinking this is a joke. It's got to be a joke," Olden told the news station. "Everyone is okay, but you will never see this in your life, that somebody was stuck in the ATM, it was just crazy."
