With it being just a few days before Halloween, some of you may be realizing all of a sudden that you need a costume. Whether it's for an adult or a child, there are plenty of ways to get a good deal on a costume.
It can actually be kind of fun having to come up with something last-minute.
1. The first tip may take some serious creativity on your part, but: Use What You Have.
Sometimes the best costumes come from you combining items you already have in order to make a fun and unique outfit. This past weekend I went to a Mario-themed Go Cart Racing event. I really didn't want to spend the money on buying an expensive costume, so I put some clothes together to become "Hipster Luigi."
My favorite costume of the day was my Sikh friend (he wears a turban), who used what he had to make himself a box with a mushroom coming out of the top. He used paper circles on his red turban, and made a box out of cardboard. I bet it was super inexpensive to make, and he ended up winning the trophy for best costume!
2. The next one may be kind of obvious if you're frugal like me, but: Shop At Thrift Stores.
Some of the coolest items that would make fun costumes can be found at your local Goodwill. When planning my Doctor Who costume, I found the best jacket for the character for under $5. That's a bargain!
3. While browsing through Target the other day, this one came to mind: Check The Halloween Clearance.
The stores may be slightly wiped clean of all the popular stuff, but you can find some good deals on costumes right now at the retail stores. Target had Halloween items clearanced 50% off, so this is perfect for all you last-minute procrastinators.
I'm sure there are more tips for saving on a last-minute costume, but that's where I'm leaving it to all of you! What are some of your tips for a last-minute costume? Tell me about it in the comment section!
