Florida Avenue, Suite 109Tampa, FL 33572 Continuing Education Hours Available for a $10 Processing Fee Course Description: This course will address the best practice clinical use of Safety Planning for children and adolescents who display sexual behavior problems. The presenter will also provide an electronic template created by SAIN’s for use in safety planning interventions Attendee's will learn the basis of safety planning for youth with sexual behavior problems and be able to apply it effectively with clients; will learn the importance of safety planning with juvenile sexual abusers, members of their support system, and their treatment team; and will learn at a primary level how to assist their clients in making modifications in their lives to follow the plan and implement appropriate monitoring/supervision guidelines in order to reduce the risk for further sexual abuse and to increase household and family safety. Presenter Bio: Gary Vitacco-Robles, LMHC,NCC is a licensed mental health counselor and national certified counselor currently employed as the Program Manager of Specialized Treatment Services (STS) and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) at Northside Mental Health Center, where he has worked since 1986. STS is an outpatient program providing, individual, family, group and psychiatric services to children from birth to 17 and also serves children with sexual behavior problems and survivors of trauma. TANF provides outpatient therapy to adults with children at risk for removal and adults working toward reunification with children in the child welfare system who are motivated to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Gary has experience treating juvenile sex offenders since 1995 and has facilitated sexual offender specific groups for juveniles in an outpatient setting. He is also a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA). Gary is also a founding member of SAIN who currently serves as the chair of the treatment provider subcommittee. Additionally, he is a qualified supervisor for registered interns in mental health counseling and was in concurrent private practice for five years in central Tampa.
